Fab weekend

So, this weekend all the girls (Jamye, Nallely, Amy, and I) went to try bridal makeup... I'm not posting pictures of the actual makeup because I don't want people to email me with inappropriate suggestions. That's how bad it was! I felt like I looked like Dame Edna (And "she's" not even a woman! )

Yikes yikes is all I can say. So now I'm on the hunt for an awesome makeup artist. There's this girl down in Newport Beach that I love (she does our makeup every year for this charity Ball we go to) but I have no idea what it would cost me to get her up here so I really need to try to find someone in town. Also - I would like to avoid having to donate my kidney in order to be able to afford them as well. hahaha

So after we went back to my place and wiped off the makeup and re-applied the way we like it we had a couple of drink and then Joey drove us down town to this new club called Savoy. They have a burlesque show there and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Their drink menu is really fun. They have funky names by year. I think we had the 1970s drink. Champagne, elderberry and some lemon. YUM! After a few minutes of being there the show started and WOW!

The show is really sensual and it caters to both men and women which I like. I could definitely go here with Joey. After the champagne drink we moved onto Cosmos - yay! So yum! There was 4 shows that were 20 minutes long each and they were all different. After the show was over we had some more drinks and then we went over to another club - EOS

We had a great time, dancing, laughing, talking about everything and nothing. In other words it was a great night out and we all had a fab time!

Sunday Jamye and I went to the Wedding Faire at Rockwood Women's Club. There were a lot of different vendors there. We got to try all kinds of food, candy, appetizers, cupcakes, cookies - food galore! There were some amazing flower arrangements but they were not what I am looking for. Not to say that they can't make what I want of course. I just have to figure it out first hahha I just know for sure that I want different colored Peonies

After the faire was over Jamye took me home so I could lay down for a bit. I have to admit to being a TAD hungover hahha Later Sunday night Joey and I watched the Social Network. I have to say that I thought it was interesting

And I also started thinking about buying shares in Facebook but they won't be available to the public until 2012 so...

That was my awesome weekend folks!

Wedding reception at SB Museum of Natural History?

This morning I went to the gym for a quick cardio session then back home to change because we had an appointment to meet with Meredith who works for the Museum of Natural History here in Santa Barbara. The place is beautiful and there's plenty of parking. The cost for the rental is $2,000 which is not bad. The space is large enough to fit 150 ppl and we get to have the place all day for set up and such.

They were setting up for a corporate event while we were there so there was also a caterer on scene - Creative Services Catering. Turns out my mom knows the brother of the owner of the catering company! We spoke to him for a while and he's suuuper nice! The owner's name is John Savage and he made both Joey and myself feel very comfortable with him and he definitely knows what he's talking about. If we choose this venue I think we both will be very very happy. Here's a quick video I took of the room

The girls are coming over at 3:45 so we can all carpool over to the makeup gal Patricia so I better go. I'll post pics of the makeup later.

Happy Saturday to you all :)

Rain, rain, and even more rain

I can't believe how much it's raining today. They said we would get 3" but this seems like more! Insane... Had a mellow day at work which was nice since it's Friday. Also, I get my weekly Grande Non-Fat Vanilla Latte on Friday :) I try to only drink coffee on Fridays and sometimes on Saturdays. It's extra calories that I don't need everyday so it's easy to limit myself. Plus - I'm not addicted to coffee either so it's just a nice treat. My boss and I take turns buying for each other.
(this is not my office. LOL )

Last night we watched Knight and Day with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. I really liked it. I'm not too fond of Tom these days but it was a good movie and I would recommend it.

Ok, I need to get started on making a necklace for one of my mom's customers. My mom asked about it weeks ago so I better get started. This is something along the lines of what I'm going to make:
This is a charm design that I make. There's Chrysophrase, Turquoise, and a 24k hand dipped real leaf. Ok, better get started.

Stay dry...

Storm coming on

I was exhausted at work today again and I'm not sure if it's because of the storm that's coming or if it's because I haven't done as much cardio as I normally do. I started to feel a bit iffy this afternoon but decided to ignore it and I went in to the work gym and did 45 minutes of cardio and then some abs. And wouldn't you know it - I feel great now!

Not looking forward to the storm that's about to come into town tonight. Here's what is says on weather.com:
A VERY COLD STORM SYSTEM WILL IMPACT SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY.
SNOW LEVELS WILL FALL RAPIDLY... AS LOW AS 500 FEET NORTH OF POINT CONCEPTION.

We haven't had snow down that low in years! The snow will be fun but not the rain. Eeek. I guess the rain is good in one way because I'm doing the trial makeup on Saturday and if it stays on my face thru the storm, then I'll be good to go on my wedding day. hahaha

I love Kourtney and Kim Take New York. Not sure why I love these shows but they are very addictive. In tonight's episode Schengo (sp?) is leaving for Australia and Kim is super upset about it.
I totally wish I had their closets! Not to mention their shoes! How cool would it be to have a store "sponsor" you? I would be ok with having either The Area or Angl in town sponsor me... Just saying for anyone who's reading... Hook me up! :)

Bye Dolls!

Sex and the City

How come Sex and the City is so addictive? Even the old episodes... Watching Carrie and Burger. Suuuuch a long time ago.

Right after work today I had an appointment to do eyebrow threading. I prefer threading over waxing since waxing pulls on the skin more you lose elasticity faster. I go to Amy's Skincare on De La Vina Street. She charges $20 and I truly think you should go try this if you haven't before. Another plus for threading is that the person doing it has more control over which hairs to grab and pull out.

I'm way too tired to even work out tonight which says a lot because normally I'll do 5-6 days per week. I try to do 45 minutes plus some weights. It's tough but if I want to look fab in the wedding dress I better! HA :) Back to working out tomorrow, Friday and Saturday am. And I already got Monday and Tuesday in so I think I'm ok ;-)

I'm meeting an old friend for coffee Sat day then that afternoon off to try on wedding dresses with Jamye and that night I am going to try Patricia for wedding makeup and lashes. I'll post the result on here :)

Ok, got to make some chicken curry for dinner.

Keep it healthy folks!

Totally Tuesday

Long day at work trying to catch up on all the emails from yesterday. For those who are not as familiar with what I do - I am a sales coordinator for the repair department at Tempest Telecom. I help customers with pricing and RSAs.

Anyway, back to the Totally Tuesday... Amy and I had asked our trainer if we could work out today instead on Monday since I wasn't sure how long my mom was up here for the weekend. We had just finished up a 6 week program and neither of us lost any body fat %. LOL guess we both cheated a bit... But I only had 2 65 calorie beers and nothing until this past Saturday when I had some wine with the fam!!! What the....???

Oh, and my mom and I also went to La Soie Bridal to try on some wedding dresses this past Saturday. There was three that I tried on and some that I liked more or less. I don't think either was "The One" so I'll be trying on some more dresses down south.

Ok, I need to focus on watching "You Again" so far it's pretty funny!

Write more tomorrow.

Peace out...

First Blog Post

So, I started a blog in Swedish years ago but lost track of it in the midst of life being crazy :) I realized my friend Linda has had a blog for a while and she loves it so I figured - let's try this again. Might be a good thing and I might be able to get some useful wedding advice :)

I got engaged on my favorite holiday - Christmas Eve. In Sweden we celebrate Christmas on Dec 24th and so we do the same with my family here. We  cook all day then have a Smorgasbord of yummie foods. After dinner we put out dessert and candy. Once everyone is settled I start handing out gifts. One gift at a time and we all watch the person open their gift. With 11 people it sure takes a few hours but I absolutely LOVE it!

Anyhoo... so we get down to the last two gifts from my fiance and I just know that one of them is a perfume (D&G The One). I know because of the way he wrapped it hahahahah it wasn't the prettiest wrapping I've seen but then I'm not that great either! HA! So, then I get to the last gift and I have absolutely no idea what it might be. I start to open it and just get a feeling that it MIGHT be a ring... I get super nervous (in a good way) but don't want to have that look of disappointment on my face in case it's not a ring so I think to myself - it's earrings. it's earrings. it's earrings. lol

I slowly open the box and there it is... The most beautiful ring I could ever have imagined! I look at it and start to cry. I put the box on the table and put my hands in front of my mouth and just cry and cry. Then he takes the box, goes down on one knee and says; "Jessica, will you marry me?" I say "YES" while crying and crying and even my fiance looks teary eyed. Everyone else around me is crying as well. It was such a happy moment and I couldn't be more happy that he chose that moment to ask me.

Then we pop champagne and I'm shaking and we start calling family and friends to tell them and everyone is so excited for us! That was such a crazy and amazing night and I will never forget it and it will sure be a story to tell our future children

Ok, I've got to catch the last of the Bachelor so write more later!
:)
